The Extech RF40 is used to determine the freezing point of coolants and can also be used to measure the concentration of ethylene/propylene glycol. All measurements on the RF40 are carried out with automatic temperature compensation (ATC) to ensure that accuracy is maintained. The device can measure the freezing point of propylene/ethylene glycol from -60 to 32°F and can also be used to measure the specific gravity of battery acid between 1.11 to 1.30. Thanks to the ATC and general Extech accuracy all measurements are carried out with a high degree of accuracy and resolution. Like all other Extech refractometers, this device includes an eyepiece for viewing the inserted solution sample against a scale built into the unit. Only 2 to 3 drops of solution are required to make a measurement and it is possible to adjust the focus of the prism and lens thanks to a built-in focus adjustment option.
